Postgraduate Certificate of Nursing – Perioperative – Werribee Mercy Hospital

Locations:

Through the Postgraduate Certificate of Nursing, we offer a one-year program (graduate certificate) for registered nurses who wish to undertake postgraduate studies in perioperative nursing.

Werribee Mercy Hospital facilitates the clinical component of this 12-month course, in conjunction with the College of Nursing by distance education.

Successful applicants will rotate through all areas of the perioperative environment, including the instrumentation and circulating role, and the anaesthetic and recovery roles.

Mercy Health currently has an agreement with Barwon Health where our perioperative students experience cardiac surgery at a placement in Geelong theatres. This placement is a well-received and worthwhile experience for our students.

Students are employed for a minimum of 24 hours a week (by negotiation with previous perioperative experience) to a maximum of 36 hours a week. The program starts in February and runs for a period of 12 months.
