The Department of Paediatrics delivers the following services:
Inpatient paediatric services at Mercy Hospital for Women including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Nursery.
General paediatric outpatient clinics provide general medical assessment of babies, pre-school and school-aged children. You must have a referral from your general practitioner.
The growth and development clinic assesses the development of children who have received care in the neonatal nursery at two years corrected age (their age minus the weeks or months they were born early).
Paediatric heart ultrasound is offered to inpatients and outpatients, with a medical referral.
Paediatric eye health services are provided to inpatients and outpatients. Only internal referrals are accepted.
Paediatric respiratory medicine clinic is an outpatient service for babies and children who have received care in our neonatal nursery. Only internal referrals are accepted.
The Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program performs pre-discharge hearing screening for all babies born at Mercy Hospital for Women.
