What to do before
Outpatients
Your appointment with the paediatrician will be confirmed with an SMS message or letter. If you need to reschedule the appointment, please contact the Paediatric Outpatient Clinic to reschedule.
What to bring
- Medicare card
- existing x-ray films, scans, ultrasounds or any other test results or reports
- medicines your child needs to take during their visit
- list (or packaging) of medicines your child is currently taking, including over-the-counter medicines, such as herbal supplements and vitamins
- Health Care Card and/or concession card
- private health insurance card (if applicable)
- adverse drug alert card
What to expect on the day
Outpatient clinics are located in the outpatients building. Although your appointment may only last 15-30 minutes, please allow an hour for the visit.

If it is a medical emergency please call 000.
If you would like advice please do not hesitate to call the ward and one of our nursing staff will be happy to assist and give you advice.
If you feel that your child needs to be seen by a doctor, please visit your GP or local family doctor.
If you feel that your child requires urgent review, please don’t hesitate to come to the emergency department.

For non-urgent conditions, there are general practitioners (GPs) located near the hospital who are available until late in the evening.

HealthLink is a secure digital platform for sending referrals directly from your GP practice software (Best Practice, Genie, Medical Director and MedTech Evolution).
Practices without conformant software can register for a free HealthLink Portal licence by completing the online registration form and noting in the comments/message field that you would like to use the SmartForms, then selecting the two checkboxes – (1) Receive Electronic Correspondence (free of charge) and (3) Send Electronic Smart Forms (My Aged Care, Transport for NSW, Monash Health etc).
Once HealthLink receives your completed registration application, this will be processed and the portal details will be forwarded to you.
