Werribee Mercy Hospital

Emergency Department expansion

The Werribee Mercy Hospital Emergency Department is expanding to better care for our growing community in Melbourne’s outer west.

This Victorian Government–funded project will deliver a bigger, more modern emergency department that can support an additional 25,000 patients each year, ensuring faster access to high quality emergency care when it’s needed most.

The project is on track for completion in 2026.

The expanded emergency department will double the current capacity and include:

  • 67 treatment spaces
  • A dedicated paediatric zone for children and families
  • Adult mental health spaces
  • Improved layouts to support safer, more efficient care for patients and staff
  • Capacity to care for 25,000 additional emergency presentations each year.

This state-of-the-art facility will help deliver the best possible emergency care for a rapidly growing population.

New treatment spaces will improve patient flow, enhance safety, and support a better working environment for our dedicated healthcare staff.
