Safe Patient Care (Nurse to Patient and Midwife to Patient Ratios) Act 2015 Reporting Requirements.

 

Werribee Mercy Hospital

Number of birthing suites: 9

Mixed Wards:

Level 4 Medical Ward

The total number of occupied beds in the mixed ward:

24 beds (16 x medical beds and 8 x monitored beds)

The different ratios that would apply to each portion:

Shift Medical Monitored
AM 1:4 plus in charge 1:4
PM 1:5 plus in charge 1:4
ND 1:8 plus in charge 1:4

The expected number of occupied beds in each portion of the ward during the following 6-month period:

24 beds (16 x medical beds and 8 x monitored beds)

 

Geriatric Evaluation Management Unit

The total number of occupied beds in the mixed ward:

26 beds (20 x geriatric evaluation and rehabilitation beds, 6 x TCP inpatient beds)

The different ratios that would apply to each portion:

Shift GEM Rehabilitation
AM 1:5 plus in charge 1:5 plus in charge
PM 1:6 plus in charge 1:5 plus in charge
ND 1:10 plus in charge 1:10

The expected number of occupied beds in each portion of the ward during the following 6-month period:

26 beds (20 x geriatric evaluation and rehabilitation beds, 6 x TCP inpatient beds)

 

Short Stay Unit (SSU)/Rapid Assessment and Medical Management Area (RAMMA) 

The total number of occupied beds in the mixed ward

12 SSU beds and 12 RAMMA beds

The different ratios that would apply to each portion:

PM 1:4 1:4
ND NA 1:4

The RAMMA operates up to 12 beds AM/PM shifts Monday through Sunday.

The expected number of occupied beds in each portion of the ward during the following 6-month period:

12 RAMMA and SSU beds

Mixed Wards:

Level 6 Gynaecology Ward

The name of the mixed ward: Level 6 Gynaecology Ward

The total number of occupied beds in the mixed ward:

20 beds (16 x medical/surgical beds and 4 x HDU beds)

The different ratios that would apply to each portion:

Shift Medical HDU
AM 1:4 plus in charge 1:2
PM 1:5 plus in charge 1:2
ND 1:8 plus in charge 1:2

The expected number of occupied beds in each portion of the ward during the following 6-month period:

20 beds (16 x medical / surgical beds and 4 x HDU beds)
