Overview
Physiotherapy can help to improve or restore movement and function when you or your child are affected by an injury, illness or a medical or physical condition. Physiotherapy uses physical techniques, education and advice, as well as tailored exercise to improve movement, reduce pain, speed up the healing process and improve quality of life.
Physiotherapy Inpatient services are provided to Maternity, Gynaecological, and Neonatal wards, and to the Emergency Department and Birthing Suites.
Outpatient services are provided to people with women’s health issues, including musculoskeletal conditions of pregnancy, and pelvic floor and continence rehabilitation, as well as paediatric physiotherapy outpatient services for a range of paediatric disorders.

What to expect on the day
The Physiotherapy Department usually runs on time. If you have been waiting longer than 15 minutes, please speak to reception. Most appointments take 30 minutes, however they may take as long as one hour.
Physiotherapy management may include lifestyle changes and participation in a home exercise program. You will be expected to take an active role in therapy and to work with your Physiotherapist on the strategies discussed. You will be supported by your Physiotherapist to self-manage you or your child’s condition.

Physiotherapy offers a specialised and comprehensive tertiary referral service covering all aspects of women’s health and neonatal paediatrics for inpatients and outpatients.
This includes comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment for painful disorders and women’s health dysfunctions.
