- support you emotionally and spiritually in times of challenge or crisis
- explore your sense of purpose or meaning
- celebrate life’s joys with you
- assist and support you in times of loss and grief
- make connections when you feel lonely or isolated
- discuss your thoughts when making important decisions
- support you with religious and/or spiritual practice, including prayer and ritual
- make contact for you with a priest, minister of religion or faith representative
- engage in conversations about end of life.

Pastoral care involves spiritual, emotional and religious care for all patients and their families. Pastoral carers are respectful of all religious faiths, beliefs, expressions of spirituality, relationships and all that is meaningful to a patient.
