Your appointment
What to do before
You will need a referral to attend day therapy programs in our Community Therapy Unit (CTU).
What to bring
Please bring your Medicare card to your appointment.
What to expect on the day
If you come to the unit, you will be greeted by our receptionist who will show you where to wait for your appointment or group session. Please wear comfortable clothes and supportive shoes.
If we are seeing you at home, we will call you to arrange a time and date that suits you.

Team Composition
During day therapy programs, you may be seen by physiotherapists, occupational therapists and their assistants.
Additional support
To make sure the program is suitable for you, we will check on your progress each time you meet with us.

For health professionals
We provide physiotherapy and occupational therapy services for clients aged over 65 to enhance their wellbeing and lifestyle. We promote preventative healthcare and help people to manage their health needs. We provide people-focused care in:
- falls prevention
- rehabilitation
- orthopaedics
- musculoskeletal
- neurological
- geriatric
- cardiopulmonary.
We also provide:
- home assessments
- home modification recommendations
- falls education
- seating assessments
- equipment prescriptions.
A variety of exercise groups is available to cater for a range of needs and abilities. These groups include resistance training, balance exercises, and health promotion and education.
Procedural information
All patients require a referral to participate in day therapy programs. Participation will be prioritised according to patient needs.
How to prepare the patient
Once the referral has been processed, a member of the Community Therapy Unit team will contact the patient to arrange an appointment.
What/when you should refer to us
If the patient is aged 65 or over and needs assistance in mobility, preventing falls and remaining independent in their home.
What/when you should not refer to us
If the patient is very unwell and needs a medical review or lives outside New South Wales.
