Werribee Mercy Hospital Short Stay Unit

Overview

The Short Stay Unit is a 22-bed facility providing care for patients who come through the Emergency Department and require short hospital admission for monitoring or treatment.

Special staff called ‘Access and flow navigators’ will determine which patients can be transferred from the Emergency Department to the Short Stay Unit. This often happens during triage. Find out more about the triage process.

The expected length of stay in the Short Stay Unit is between four and 24 hours. Patients can usually then return home.

The Short Stay Unit is a separate building located on the corner of Hoppers Lane and Princes Hwy, next to the Catherine McAuley Centre.

Visitors should park in the multi-level P5 carpark, accessible via Princes Highway. It is the next entrance after the Emergency Department entrance.

To get to the Short Stay Unit, exit the hospital campus and walk along Princes Highway towards Hoppers Lane. The Short Stay Unit is located in the north-eastern corner of the Hoppers Lane carpark.

Parking availability

Visitor parking is available at Werribee Mercy Hospital. All car parks can be accessed via the hospital entrance on Hoppers Lane or from the Princes Highway entrance.

Open hours

The Short Stay Unit is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

General visiting hours

Patients in the Short Stay Unit can have visitors between 2-8pm.

Please be aware that visiting restrictions may change at short notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Changes to visiting hours will be listed here.

On site shops and cafes

Werribee Mercy Hospital has one café located in the main corridor.

Opening hours for the main building are:

Monday–Friday

7am–8pm

Weekends

8am–8pm (please note, hot food is not available on weekends).
